Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology

MFP

This committee selects MFP fellows from hundreds of candidates, tracks the progress of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (MHSAS) fellows and Services for Transition Age Youth (STAY) fellows, offers student advisement, shapes the policies of the fellowship, and serves as role models and mentors to the fellows.

The Interdisciplinary Fellowship Program (IFP) Training Advisory Committee is composed of outstanding psychologists, nurses, social workers, mental health providers, persons with lived experience, and community advocates who provide leadership, sound advice, professional judgment, and extraordinary commitment to the fellowship program. The ITAC meets once a year and attends the Interdisciplinary Summer Institute. They read and evaluate the applications of hundreds of candidates from our six disciplines.

Other functions of the committee include tracking the progress of fellows, consulting on fellows’ community projects, offering student advisement, and shaping the policies of the IMFP fellowship. These successful and dedicated advisors serve as role models and mentors to IMFP fellows. ITAC members welcome your interest in their work and are open to sharing ideas related to research and training. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of their experience, wisdom, and openness.

The SEEDS fund supports mentoring for neuroscience trainees. It is part of the American Psychological Foundation Fund for Racial and Ethnic Diversity and is administered by MFP.

Leadership and Education Program

This committee reviews applications of candidates for the Leadership and Education Advancement Program (LEAP) for Early Career Scholars, provides invaluable insight and guidance for program direction and growth, collaborates on curriculum development, utilizes distance learning technologies to prepare fellows to submit a high-quality National Institutes of Health or foundation grant application, provides advisement on mentor recruitment and leadership development, and serves as a steering committee for the program.
